Posillipo Italian Restaurant & Bar
About This Spot
Stepping into Posillipo Italian Restaurant & Bar, you’ll immediately notice a warmth that feels both inviting and familiar—a cozy respite tucked away along NJ-35 in Oakhurst. The hum of quiet conversations blends with the subtle clinking of glasses, creating a relaxed rhythm that encourages you to settle in and savor the moment. It’s not a rushed scene; rather, there’s a comfortable unhurried pace that lets you breathe and truly enjoy your meal.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between the charm of a neighborhood gathering spot and the attentive care of a thoughtfully managed dining room. Soft lighting and a welcoming staff contribute to a sense of being looked after without fuss, a feeling many regulars find comforting enough to return to again and again.
At its heart, Posillipo is a place where Italian flavors come to life through recipes that reflect both tradition and warmth. Every dish seems to arrive with quiet assurance, whether a serving of cheesy, aromatic garlic bread alongside a fresh house salad or a hearty plate of pasta crafted with care. There’s an authenticity to the menu that avoids flashiness, favoring simple, well-executed comfort—from tender veal to richly sauced fettuccine, and unexpected delights like fried calamari or the house-touched pork chops.
Many guests find the experience deeply satisfying because of this harmonious blend: the genuine kindness of those who serve, the thoughtful composition of the kitchen’s offerings, and the inviting setting that feels just right for catching up over a glass of carefully stirred martini or marking a special occasion.
Posillipo is much more than just a place to eat—it’s a quiet celebration of good food and thoughtful company, where the small details—the perfect temperature of the pasta, the right balance of herbs in a salad dressing, the warmth of a welcome—are all part of the story.

My wife and I have dined at Posillipo many times and every meal has been perfect. This place is truly a hidden gem. I have never had a bad meal here. Service is very friendly and at the right speed for a fine dining establishment. It has a cozy warm atmosphere and the prices are not too bad for all you get. Most meals come with soup or salad and a cheese bread that is delicious.

We have eaten here many times and never disappointed. Food and service are consistently great.

TLDR: A bit pricey but the food is good! The place is clean, service is good enough, and the food was served nice and hot. We ordered 2 pasta dishes, both of which were very good. The only thing keeping this restaurant from a 5-star review is the price. We paid almost $70 for 2 people. The food was great, but it was 2 very simple pasta dishes (rigatoni bolognese and penne with vodka sauce) plus an appetizer. It wasn't completely outrageous, but it was more than I would have liked to pay for the food.

Living back in Jersey, I’ll admit I get kind of tired of going to Italian restaurants because so many of them eventually all taste the same. Posillipo is different — it’s one of those places I’d recommend every time. The staff is always so kind and attentive, and it really feels like they genuinely care about your experience. The steaks 10/10 I'm obsessed with their mushroom sauce! Love these guys & this place!

There are so many good items on the menu, I love Posillipos. They give you soup or salad with your entree and bread. Every soap is amazing. Everyone I have ever brought there ends up becoming a regular customer. Freddy the bartender is the best.
